Extraordinary Parents
Extraordinary puppies come from extraordinary parents. All of our Mom and Dad pups are happy and healthy, have incredible temperaments, and undergo genetic testing. It is extremely important for MHD to have foundation pups that represent the best of their breed. All of these factors ensure that you bring home a happy and healthy puppy from MHD.
Extraordinary Pregnancy and Whelping Care
MHD takes pride in taking care of all of our Moms. Our Moms get all necessary vet visits, daily massages, home-cooked meals in addition to their regular diet, and lots of LOVE. Once we are on the countdown to puppies, our Moms start spending time in their whelping area so that delivery is in a familiar place. Here at MHD, we are present for the entire whelping and assist Mom as needed. Our goal is to make sure Mom is set up for success.
THE BAB WAY: ENS & ESI, 10 Step Handling, Curriculum, Temperament Testing
ENS & ESI: We begin ENS(early neurological stimulation) and ESI(early scent introduction) at 3 days old. This continues through Day 16. ENS improves cardiovascular performance, stronger heartbeats, stronger adrenal glands, more tolerance to stress, and greater resistance to disease. ESI improves nose awareness and confidence.
10 Step Handling: At 3 weeks old, MHD begins a 10 step puppy massage every day and we increase pressure each week. We use this technique to ensure that our pups are exposed to various types of touch, sensation, and handling. This includes eyes, nose, inside mouth, around collar, tummy, down back, tail pull, ear tug, and tapping nails.
Curriculum: Also at 3 weeks, we begin curriculum that socializes our pups to different sounds, textures, sights, things to climb on and run through, and so much more. The BAB way believes in empowering pups not enabling them. Here at MHD, we set them up for physical and mental situations each day to tackle and conquer. This builds puppies nerve strength, confidence, and problem solving skills. The goal is to provide our puppies with a stable and enriching environment during their time with us at Magnolia Hill.
Temperament Testing: At 7 weeks of age we conduct a puppy aptitude test on each puppy according to the BAB program. The test focuses on 12 important temperament traits to ensure our families choose the puppy that fits them as well as honoring the puppy’s needs at the same time. Families will be able to watch evaluation videos and see scorecards of each puppy in order for them to decide which pup is a great fit for their family.
